House of Representatives Ban worship Centers and gatherings across the country
The House of Representatives, after a two-hour debate on Wednesday, banned all forms gathering open worships across the country over the corona virus pandemic.
According to the law makers, the measure was based on cues from Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Vatican whom have banned open worship in their respective countries, therefore should equally act in other to help curtail and protect the citizens from the Covid-19 pandamic
The members also banned all visitors from the National Assembly till further notice.
Therefore, the resolution will now force constituents to either write their representatives and wait for reply or see members in the constituency offices.
Moving the motion of urgent public importance, Rep. Zakari Isa Chawai said even though government has put some measures in place to ensure flight restrictions into the country, there was the need to restrict public gatherings.
Chawai commended the management of the NYSC for shutting down its orientation camps across the country, pointing out that there was the need to take more proactive measure and quarantine travellers to the country.
