Plateau rep Bagos called for the investigation of the death of Martins Chineme in Nasarawa state
A law maker representing Jos South/Jos East federal Constituency at the National Assembly Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos has moved a motion, calling for the thorough investigation of the death of a footballer Martin Chineme.
Bagos who attributes the lack of proper first aid material and related healthcare issues for football which is supposed to be a standard for international best practice for safety guidelines, scene safety, safe environment, first aide assessment of injuries and basic life support among others which were all ignored in the case of Martins Chineme.
He further stated that the death would have been averted if there were good facilities like a well-equipped Ambulance and paramedics on the field, noting that it was share carelessness on the part of the officials.
Recalled that Martins Chineme slumped and died while playing on the pitch on the 8th of March 2020 in Lafia, Nasarawa state.
Hon. Bagos however, urged the house to mandate the committee on sports to investigate the cause of death of Martins Chineme and also audit the health facilities provided by the League Management company for league matches across the country and report back to the house within four (4) weeks for further legislative actions.
A one minute silence was observed by the house in respect of the deceased on the request of Hon. Dachung Bagos.
