“The attention of the Federal Road Safety Corps has been drawn to an online publication where the Sector Commander, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Corps Commander Wobin Ayuba Gora was quoted out of context on the use of Google map app while driving, during the 2019 ‘Ember Months’ flag off held in Lugbe, FCT on Wednesday.

“According to the writer, the FCT Sector Commander while delivering his ember months address stated that driving with the aid of Google map using mobile phone is a serious traffic offence.

“The Corps wishes to state that the Sector Commander must have been misquoted and his statement outrightly misrepresented because the Federal Road Safety Corps as a technology driven organisation is not and has never stood against the use of Google map by motorists.

History Maker…Mo Abudu Becomes First African to Chair International Emmys Gala

Media mogul, Mo Abudu, has become the first African to chair the International Emmy Awards Gala.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abudu performed the role at the recently concluded 47th International Emmy Awards in New York City.

In June, The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences had appointed the Chief Executive Officer of EbonyLife Media to chair the gala.

This followed her appointment as the first African director of the Academy, signalling a change in the opportunities opening up for television content producers on the continent.

Sharing the moment on her Instagram page on Wednesday. Abudu wrote: “Chairing the International Emmys Gala was such an incredible opportunity for me personally, for EBONYLIFE and for Nigerian TV Producers.

“Now we have our foot in the door which will gradually open wider. Let’s get going with our global stories.”

Still on Yari’s Letter…Matawalle Assents to Repealed Pensions Law for Ex-governors, Deputy Governors, Speakers and Deputy Speakers

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, Thursday assented to the repealed pensions law in which former governors, deputy governors, speakers and deputy speakers of the state House of Assembly were supposed to collect about a N1 billion annually as upkeep allowance from the state government.

While assenting to the law, the governor said his administration would use savings from the repealed pensions law for youth empowerment and development of infrastructure in the state.

He added that “the repealed law which was hurriedly passed by the immediate past administration of the state did not take into account the social and economic realities of the state.”

According to him, “I was shocked when I received a letter from former governor Yari for the payment of the money, otherwise I learnt the former governor threatened my administration with a court case.
