At Africa Investment Forum…AfDB Supports Ghana to Sign Historic Construction Agreement for High-speed Railway

African Development Bank (AfDB).has thrown its weight behind a concession agreement for the construction of a high-speed railway in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

This led to the signing of the agreement on the opening day of the second day of the Africa Investment Forum, taking place in Johannesburg.

“It’s a great day for Ghana! I was here last year and I’m back this year to make sure the project moves forward. This proves how important the Africa Investment Forum is. The signing of this agreement is on track to improve the lives of our citizens,” said Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

The Accra Skytrain project, representing an investment of $2.6 billion, is a high-capacity public transport system that is completely automated and cost-efficient, using pneumatic propulsion technology.

The system would transport more than 380,000 passengers annually and create some 5,000 jobs during its implementation phase.

Fashola to Senator Buhari: We Don’t Have 3,300 Road Projects in 2020 Budget Proposals,

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Monday restated that the Federal Government was focusing on the completion of ongoing road projects in the country as recommended by President Muhammadu Buhari in his Budget Speech at the National Assembly.

Fashola, who was reacting to a lead story in The Nation of Monday, November 11, attributed to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport, Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, quoting a figure of 3,300 as the number of road projects being presented for “next year’s budget,” noted that on the basis of the President’s mandate, the Ministry of Works and Housing recently presented a total of 504 road projects under contract to the Joint Committee of the National Assembly.

Read As 3 Performers Were Stab In Riyadh During An Entertainment Show

Three persons who were performing on a stage play in Riyadh were said to have been attacked by someone with a knife stabbing the performers.

The man was said to have made an entrance and headed straight to the stag where he allegedly stab the three performing artist.

However, the security we’re said to have overpowered him and took him away.

The incidence is said to be the firstt of it’s kind ever since the country opened its doors for entertainment.

At around 8.00 p.m. Riyadh police have arrested a Yemeni national, aged 33, after he stabbed two men and a woman who were members of a theatrical group during a live show in a theatre at King Abdullah Park in Malaz district, in the center of the capital city,” spokesman of Riyadh police said in a statement.

The man, carrying a knife, was seen stomping onto the stage to attack performers in theatrical costumes during a musical performance, in footage broadcast on Al-Ekbariya. Security men immediately stormed and overpowered the attacker.

The artists who sustained superficial wounds were provided treatment and they were in stable condition, the spokesman said adding that police started an investigation into the incident. SG/SPA
