344 Year Old Tortoise Alagba, Has Died in Ogbomosho Palace


The tortoise Alagba, as it’s popularly called was a 344 years old tortoise from the palace of Soun of Ogbomosho who took a bow today.

The tortoise who according to the Secretary of the Suon Ogbomosho disclosed became a popular breed upon the ascension of the throne of the current Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi with the monarch providing good shelter and health support for the tortoise during its sojourn on.
“The tortoise had two staff members of the palace, dedicated to her. They provide food, health support, and other logistics, so as to make sure she gets the best treatment. Often times, Kabiyesi shared great moments with Alagba. On a daily basis, Alagba had tourists visiting here from different parts of the world. The palace household, Ogbomoso community, and stakeholders in the tourism sector are mourning Alagba’s passing. “

The tortoise is also said to have two staff members for herself, one who feeds and takes care of her shelter, while the other one oversees to her health issues.

People are said to come from far and near as far as abroad to see Alagba.

The palace secretary explained that plans were underway to preserve the body of Alagba for historic purpose.
