Governor El-Rufai Hosts His Royal Highness Emir Of Kano In Kaduna -Photos


Governor Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna state today, played host to the emir of Kano his majesty Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II at tHe Kaduna state government house.

According to a post on the governors Facebook page, the visit was to honor the 5th speaker series of Kashim Ibrahim fellows programme.

”No responsible government will sit by and allow fake news and hate speech to dominate its media space, because of the capacity of this menace to exploit our national fault lines to set us against each other and trigger a national conflagration.

“That is why we will continue to evolve ways to tackle fake news and hate speech until we banish both.”

Breaking News – Supreme Court Dismisses Atikus Appeal, Says it Lacks Merrit


The Supreme court has today dismissed the appeal of the presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Tanko Mohammed who dismissed the appeal revealed that the decision followed an agreement by the 7 man panel noting that it lacks merit.

Justice Tanko said, the panel has been reviewing the case for about two weeks now, where they finally arrived at the dismissal for lack of merit.

The Chief Justice further explains that reasons for the dismissal of the appeal will be made known on a later date.

“The forum, as the representative body of the states, keenly followed what happened in the negotiations that transpired that led to that (federal government) template.

Nigeria’s Unemployment Rate Frightening, Says AfDB

African Development Bank (AfDB) Monday said the unemployment situation in Nigeria was frightening and could become catastrophic if decent jobs were not created for the country’s youth population.

The bank raised the concern at the regional presentation of a report entitled: “Creating Decent Jobs: Strategies, Policies and Instruments” in Abuja.

The report, a compilation of policy recommendations from some of the world’s leading labour and development economists, also looked at the unemployment situation in different African countries.

AfDB Senior Director, Nigeria Country Department, Ebrima Faal, in an address, said Africa was currently facing a job crisis, with African Economic Outlook estimating that 20 million new jobs needed to be created annually until 2030 to absorb new entrants to the workforce.

Faal, however, noted that the situation in Nigeria was frightening due to the country’s population.
